Cowgirl Creamery’s Sidekick Café is located next door to their Cheese Shop and offers breakfast and lunchtime classics with a seasonal Cowgirl twist. Sourcing much of their ingredients from local neighbors in the Ferry Building and at the CUESA Farmers Market, Sidekick is home to one of the best grilled cheeses in San Francisco while also offering lighter fare such as yogurt & fruit parfaits or Cowgirl’s famous cottage cheese with avocado & radish.
In lieu of a traditional happy hour, Sidekick offers the Afternoon Cheesemonger Roundup (Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30pm). Guests can enjoy an interactive experience with a Cowgirl cheesemonger who will prepare a customized cheese plate with accompaniments. Add a glass of local wine or beer to complete the experience.
Cowgirl Creamery co-founders Sue Conley and Peggy Smith were veterans of Bay Area kitchens before turning their hands to cheesemaking. Smith cooked at Chez Panisse for over 17 years and Conley was co-founder and chef at Bette’s Oceanview Diner on Berkeley’s Fourth Street. At Sidekick, their knowledge of cheese and of pairing and cooking come together with delicious results.
