MarketBar—a restaurant and bar that anchors the Embarcadero side of the Ferry Building—offers a seasonal Mediterranean menu inspired by the fresh ingredients sold at the Marketplace. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and also serves breakfast on Saturdays & Sundays. The wide sidewalk in front of the restaurant is lined with café tables where patrons can drink, graze, dine—and be spectators—from one of the most charming and lively vantage points in the city. Owners Doug Biederbeck and Joseph Graham are seasoned restaurateurs and both are well-known in San Francisco. Doug is known through BIX in historic Jackson Square, his sexy supper club with an international clientele. Together, Doug and Joseph have Florio, a French/Italian bistro on Upper Fillmore. At MarketBar they offer hearty main courses—such as seafood stew, roasted organic chicken, and dry-aged steak —along with charcuterie, vegetable side dishes, salads, and a sensational dessert menu. With a warm ambiance that complements the historic Ferry Building, the full-service bar offers an inviting spot to relax downtown. |
