Imperial Tea Court at the Ferry Building is an elegant, traditional Chinese teahouse that sells and serves some of the world's finest hand-picked Chinese tea under the proprietorship of teamaster, author, and tea consultant Roy Fong and his wife Grace. The shop entrance features a signature moon gate and dragon sofa made from reclaimed wood imported from China. Visitors can purchase bulk tea at the stunning black granite counter (imported from China) - or pause for tea and snacks, comfortably seated at one of six rosewood tables. Several special tea services are offered. With prior reservations, advanced tea classes can also be arranged.
Table service is offered for snacks, and light meals, including organic dim sum – for example, three types of buns: Niman Ranch pork buns, red bean paste buns, and vegetarian buns made with mustard greens and shitaki. There are also dumplings filled with Niman Ranch pork or sustainably raised shrimp. The shop is also renowned as an exclusive source for rare and beautiful traditional Chinese teaware, with many items handmade by master artisans.
