Hodo Soy Beanery, Bay Area maker of fresh, artisan, organic soymilk, tofu, yuba and ready-to-eat soy products opened its first retail kiosk at the Ferry Building Marketplace in May 2011. Located a few yards from Gott’s Roadside, just inside the front doors facing the Embarcadero, the Hodo Soy Beanery kiosk is open daily and offers freshly made breakfast and lunch grab-and-go items including smoothies, parfaits, fresh tofu and yuba salads, sandwiches and desserts from Hodo Soy’s kitchen in Oakland. Menu items include:
*Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Kale Avocado Smoothie — Made with soymilk and soy custard
*Yuba Kung Pao Salad — Yuba, brown rice noodles, and crunchy cucumber, daikon, carrot and soynuts tossed in a spicy kung pao dressing
*Andalé Salad — Hodo savory tofu, napa cabbage, red onion, red pepper tossed with a vinaigrette of rice vinegar, lime juice, cilantro and mint
*Sky is Falling! Sandwich — A Hodo Soy farmersʼ market favorite, curried chicken-less salad made with Hodo firm tofu and Hodo vegan mayo on Vital Vittles bread
*Scharf’s Mousse — Silky chocolate mousse named in honor of John Scharffenberger that is made with Hodo Soy crème (a thicker version of soy milk) and soy custard
*Lotus Forbidden Rice Pudding — Hodo Soy crème, Hodo Soy custard, Indian spices, candied ginger and toasted coconut
Hodo Soy’s menu items are organic, vegan and gluten-free (except the sandwiches which are made with Vital Vittles whole wheat bread). Menu items and daily specials change based on seasonal availability of ingredients.
