10AM |  Harvest FestivalThe Ferry Building Marketplace celebrates its sixth annual Harvest Festival October 24th – 26th, 2008, with a range of free events including Honey Tasting, Olive Oil Tasting, Live Music, and a Barnyard by the Bay. The Friday October 24th Organic Wine & Beer Tasting from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. benefits the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), one of the oldest and largest organic certifiers in the country. Throughout the weekend Marketplace merchants will be offering a delightful abundance of special fare, tastings and demonstrations. Specially scheduled events include:Friday, October 24th, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Organic Beer, Wine and Spirit Tasting - California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), one of the oldest and largest organic certifiers in the country, will host an Organic Beer, Wine and Spirits Tasting in collaboration with the annual Harvest Festival at the Ferry Building Farmers Market in San Francisco. The event will take place Friday, October 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. Ferry Building food vendors will pair with visiting organic vintners, distilleries and breweries to offer sample snacks and accompaniments, many made with certified organic ingredients. Tickets are $25 at the door for 10 tastes. A silent auction will benefit CCOF’s nonprofit programs. Saturday, October 25th, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Harvest Activities - In addition to the bountiful Saturday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and the traditional Farmers Talk and Cooking Demo - there is a cornucopia of free family events, including: Apple Cider Pressing, and Heirloom Apple Tasting, Wool Spinning, and Butter Making demos. Inside the Marketplace, merchants will offer special seasonal tastings and products. Saturday October 25th, 4 p.m.: Wine & talk at Book Passage - Writer Mort Rosenblum & Confectioner Michael Recchiuti will mingle and talk at Book Passage. Rosenblum is the editor of Dispatches: A Literary Journal which is a new collection of essays that looks closely at important news and tries to find out what's behind the story. Join Michael and Mort for wine and hors d'oeuvres on Saturday, October 25 at 4PM Sunday, October 26th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Farmers Market & Marketplace Autumnal Offerings The celebration of autumn will continue on Sunday in the Marketplace with live music by Folk Musician Jackie Jones, gypsy jazz music by Golden Gate Hot Club and communal tables decorated with Fall Foliage for shoppers to enjoy their seasonal purchases.
