Food from the Heart

A romantic mood will envelop the 1898 Ferry Building Marketplace on Valentine’s weekend.  Providing a rare opportunity to experience the magic and beauty of the waterfront at night, the 8th annual "Food From the Heart" will kick off on Friday night, February 11th, in the candlelit Grand Nave.  Merchants and restaurateurs at the Marketplace will offer chocolate tastings and seasonal hors d'oeuvres, and local Napa Valley Vintners will pour wine. The event is free with nominal charges for food and wine samples.

Marketplace shops will all be open from 5 to 8 PM for Valentine shopping on Friday night. There will be tango dancing, and classical music to serenade visitors. There will be delicious hors d'oeuvres for $2 - 4 each, and  Napa Valley vVntners will pour wine for $2-4 per taste.

Proceeds from purchases of wine and hors d'oeuvres will benefit Slow Food San Francisco’s School Garden Projects. Tickets will be available the night of the event at tables throughout the Marketplace.  On Saturday, the romantic revelry will continue with music in the Marketplace, chef demos and special Valentine offerings from merchants.
