Food From the Heart

The third annual Food From The Heart at the Ferry Building Marketplace kicks off on Friday, February 10 with a benefit for Slow Food from 5pm to 8pm. The public is invited to stroll the candlelight Grand Nave where the merchants and restaurateurs of the Marketplace will offer seasonal hors d'oeuvres for $2.00 each and Slow Food will pour wine ($5.00 per glass) from several wine bars. There will be tango and salsa dancing, music to serenade the senses, and lovely offerings of food. CUESA will offer their famous organic love potion. The entire Marketplace will be open until 8pm for Valentine shopping.

Inspired by the Season of love the Epicurean revelry and delights carry on through out the weekend. Saturday the Marketplace and the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market will be brimming with heartfelt foods. At the CUESA Kitchen they'll be an array of tastes and cooking demos, including:

10:00 am - Meet the Farmer
Bella Viva Orchards - For over 60 years, Victor Martino's family has been farming the rich soil of California's Central Valley. Over the years, they have expanded their operation to drying and packing the fruits and nuts they grow.

10:30 am - Seasonal Cooking Demonstration

11:45 am - Special Program ~ Sweet Surprise: Breakfast in Bed Recipes

Treat your sweetheart to a delicious morning indulgence on Valentine's Day. Highlighting the season's brightest flavors, Chef Thy Tran will demonstrate a special, stress-free menu while sharing tips on presenting the perfect breakfast in bed.

Heartfelt Menu Items include:
French Toast with Lemon-Ricotta Filling
Citrus Compote
Cheesy Scrambled Eggs
Peppered Bacon
Cardamom-Infused Pomegranate Juice
Coffee/Tea
For audience tasting: French Toast with Compote, Pomegranate Juice.

On Sunday the celebration continues with epicurean demonstrations, lovely gift ideas, farm fresh flowers and delectable, seasonal food & drink to tempt the senses.
