Cowgirl Sidekick, is a cheese and dairy bar, next to the Cowgirl Creamery cheese shop in the Ferry Building Marketplace. The kitchen offers a morning menu that includes challah rolls with sweet and savory fillings, gougères, cottage cheese with fresh fruit, and sweet and savory yogurt bowls. Lunch time includes a fresh mozzarella bar, green salads, a daily artisan cheese plate, cheese soup, cheese toasties and grilled cheese. Beverages include both cold and steamed milk coffee and milk tea, cream sodas, including a San Francisco egg cream made with a specially formulated chocolate by Ferry Building neighbor Michael Recchiuti of Recchiuti Confections and spritzers. All breads are by another Ferry Building neighbor, Acme Bread.

Both Smith and Conley were veterans of Bay Area kitchens before turning their hands to cheesemaking. Peggy Smith cooked at Chez Panisse for over 17 years, both in the café and in the downstairs kitchen. Sue Conley was one of the founders and chefs at Bette’s Oceanview Diner on Berkeley’s Fourth Street. At Sidekick, their knowledge of cheese and of pairing and cooking come together with delicious results.
