Cowgirl Creamery, award winning makers of artisan cheese and proprietors of three of the best cheese stores in the country, are offering a 30 minute Cowgirl Creamery Experience at their shop in San Francisco’s landmark Ferry Building. Designed as a guided visit and tasting, the Experience includes the story of Cowgirl Creamery, their experiences in cheesemaking, a tasting of three cheeses and a special item from Sidekick, their adjacent, cheese-centric eatery. The cost is $100 per group and groups are limited to 10 people. The sessions are available between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, Sundays through Thursdays by appointment only. Reservations may be made online or by calling 866-433-7834.
The sessions will be conducted by an experienced cheesemonger who will explain the uniqueness of each cheese tasted, recount stories of the cheesemakers, explain cheese's role in agriculture, give instructions for storing cheese and make pairing suggestions. Afterwards, participants can explore the cheese counter with its array of impeccably handled American and European farmstead and artisan cheeses. Cowgirl has offered tours, tastings and talks at the original Point Reyes Station creamery and at their newer Petaluma creamery. The Ferry Building sessions will be their first in an urban setting and reflect the deepening public interest in the provenance of food and ancient food traditions. The Ferry Building provides the perfect backdrop for the Cowgirl Creamery Experience as a center of local and artisanal food.
For more than a decade, Cowgirl Creamery has been a maker, purveyor and nationwide distributor of its own award winning artisan cheese and artisan cheese from noted producers around the United States and Europe.
